Sizewell C (SZC) is a proposed new nuclear station that has been granted planning permission with construction expected to commence in 2024. It is a nationally significant infrastructure project with a vital role in the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. The project will have a big impact in the drive to reduce carbon emissions in the UK.

Sizewell C (SZC) is a landmark project to plan, design and build two EPR nuclear reactors located on the East Coast of Suffolk. Sizewell C (SZC) will be a next-of-a-kind nuclear power plant, using the same technology and design as the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant under construction in Somerset.

The impact of Sizewell C (SZC) stretches beyond the immediate project site, both in delivering low carbon electricity to 6 million households, as well as in creating a step change in local, regional and national economic growth and delivering wider social and environmental benefits. Job Purpose / Overview

The Sizewell C (SZC) Project partially executes work through the Nuclear Services Agreement (NSA) Contractor who is being engaged across the project to deliver a replicated and adjusted engineering design for SZC. A key objective of the role is to help ensure that the NSA Contractors activities are in line with SZC development activities, that they are correctly contracted to deliver their scope and that progress against plan and quality of deliverables are assessed as and when required.



The Contract Project Manager role will be a key role that will focus on a particular programme of works and be responsible for contract management of the Nuclear Service Agreement (NSA). The induvial will have a good understanding of contractual terms and conditions with commercial/Supply chain knowledge of the contract - using this knowledge to facilitate timely delivery of activities for programme teams that own the scope delivery.



Contract Project manager assistants will work with commercial staff within supply chain and form a multi-disciplinary team that will liaise with multiple stakeholders and will become the point of contact for a programme of works to the Contract Project manager.




Principal Accountabilities

The role holder will:
* Liaise with key stakeholders (NSA Contractor, SZC Delivery Programmes, SZC Engineering Integration.
* Resolve contractual issues
* Supervise execution and performance of NSA contract and Ancillary scope contract.
* Report on key contract metrics - Compile and report financial and technical information, liaise with internal and external interfaces to capture and report on requests impacting the overall budget baseline and delivery.
* Management of contract management tools to ensure on time delivery, schedule and budget,
o Risk management, communications and early warnings.
* Management and validation oversight of compensation events
* Be part and lead where required on contract change negotiations
* Management of expectations and communication to seniors and senior contractor team members
* Be proactive with respect to changes in requirements and communication of these changes.
* Facilitate resolution meetings
* Enable delivery programmes to obtain additional engineering support form the consultant via the change process.
* Support the SZC NSA Contractor contract management and programme Subject Matter Experts on initiating and monitoring the technical delivery expected from the Responsible Designer, in line with SZC requirements.



Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience



Essential



* 5 years experience working on major infrastructure projects, within the nuclear industry would be beneficial.
* Contract management experience.
* Good communications/interpersonal skills
* Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders
* Strong organisational skills
* Being adaptive to change
* Able to carryout multiple work streams simultaneously
* Strong IT skills in particular MS Office package
* Ability to work independently and within a wider team.
* Being pro-active in resolving issues and escalating where required.



Desirable



* Previous engineering or project management experience in the nuclear industry.
* An understanding of the commercial aspects of major project delivery would be beneficial.
* French speaking would be beneficial, but not essential
* An understanding of engineering principles within EPR projects with a detail overview of the EPR project design would be appreciated
* Prior experience working on the HPC project is beneficial
* Capable of coordinating cross-programme technical topics
* Experience of the pre-tender and tender stages of procuring contracts for the design, manufacturing and/or installation of industrial equipment.
* Internal and external relationship & stakeholder management.
* Association with an Engineering and/or Project Management Institute
* Chartered, or working towards chartership, with a recognised institution.
